The Early Development of Passive Treatment Systems for Mining-Influenced Water: A North American Perspective

چکیده
Abstract This paper reviews the early history (first 20 years) of passive treatment mine water, from its beginnings, when it was viewed as a possible way to treat small flows circumneutral and mildly acidic coal drainage, use for much larger more contaminated water metal mines. The original concepts have since been modified used successfully wide range quality quantities, far than we would believed possible.

Treatment of aggressive non-Hodgkin's lymphoma: a north American perspective.
The most common subtype of aggressive non-Hodgkin's lymphoma is diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma represents a heterogeneous entity, with 5-year overall survival rates ranging from 26% to 73%. Microarray gene expression studies have confirmed that biologically distinct subgroups exist within DLBCL, and can be correlated with outcome. Initial management is usua...
متن کاملEvaluation of a Two-stage Passive Treatment Approach for Mining Influenced Waters1
A two-stage passive treatment approach was assessed at a bench-scale level using two Colorado Mining Influenced Waters (MIWs). The first-stage was a limestone drain with the purpose of removing iron and aluminum and mitigating the potential effects of mineral acidity. The second stage was a sulfate reducing bioreactor composed solely of 50% corn stover and 50% walnut shells by volume. The prima...
متن کاملOrbiviruses: A North American Perspective.
Orbiviruses are members of the Reoviridae family and include bluetongue virus (BTV) and epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus (EHDV). These viruses are the cause of significant regional disease outbreaks among livestock and wildlife in the United States, some of which have been characterized by significant morbidity and mortality. Competent vectors are clearly present in most regions of the globe...
متن کاملinvestigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures
deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...
Operation of passive membrane systems for drinking water treatment.
The widespread adoption of submerged hollow fibre ultrafiltration (UF) for drinking water treatment is currently hindered by the complexity and cost of these membrane systems, especially in small/remote communities. Most of the complexity is associated with auxiliary fouling control measures, which include backwashing, air sparging and chemical cleaning. Recent studies have demonstrated that su...
